What might cause image quality to change?

Our videos are optimized for mobile devices and social media platforms since that is the primary way our customers (and yours) are viewing videos. That being said, most people are satisfied with the output of their Ripl creations. If you're experiencing issues with quality, please reach out to our support team by tapping "My Posts" at the bottom of the Ripl home screen, then the Ripl menu (three lines in the upper left corner of the screen,) then "Submit a Help Ticket".

Facebook Quality Troubleshooting:

Facebook compresses videos in order to optimize them for mobile viewing. Most people are happy with the video quality when it is saved to their camera roll or posted to Instagram, but notice a decrease in quality on Facebook. Unfortunately we can't control this, but there are a couple of things you can do to improve the quality.

If you upload your Ripl video to Facebook from within the Ripl app, we will always upload in the highest quality possible. If you choose to manually upload your videos to Facebook, you may want to adjust your video upload settings in Facebook to HD. Keep in mind there are different "upload in HD" settings on your phone and desktop so how you upload the image or video will likely make a difference in quality.

Also make sure to change the video view setting to FullHD. From your phone you will need to do it on a post-by-post basis by tapping the FullHD option when selecting the post format on the "Customize" screen.

Twitter Quality Troubleshooting:

Twitter tends to throw low-quality at you at first and then if your bandwidth improves the video will crisp up. (They do this to improve the speed they play the video). Unfortunately we don't have much control over this. If you watch the video a few times on Twitter the video quality will typically improve. Sometimes switching between Wi-Fi and cellular data can make a difference as well.
